Julia Roberts, born October 28, 1967 to Betty and Walter Roberts, is a model and award-winning actor. As a child, Julia dreamt of becoming a veterinarian, but after graduating Campbell High School, headed to New York and signed with Click Modeling Agency while attending acting classes.
Her big break into show business is due largely to the efforts of her brother Eric, who was a cast in the movie “Blood Red”, and convinced the director to give Julia a role. In 1988, she appeared in two movies – “Satisfaction” and “Mystic Pizza”. However, it was only until “Steel Magnolias” did Julia Roberts became a star on her own and won herself a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Julia’s biggest success was the 1990 “Pretty Woman” movie, which got her an Oscar nomination and a People’s Choice award as Favorite actress. She spent her first few movies in two movie genres – serious flicks, such as the 1993 film “Pelican Brief” with Denzel Washington, 1996 “Michael Collins” film costarred by Liam Neeson as well as fantasy films (playing roles like Tinkerbell). However, Julia’s fans craved for romantic comedies. Big romantic comedy flicks credited to Roberts include the 1997 all-time favorite “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, 1999 “Notting Hill” and another Richard Gere movie, “Runaway Bride”.
In 2001, Roberts won a critical acclaim and a Best Actress Oscar for her role as Erin Brockovich. Due to Julia’s remarkable acting, the same director of Erin Brockovich teamed up with Roberts for three more movies including, Full Frontal, Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve.
